DREAM TO REALITY

Henry Grossbard had a dream to create a square shaped diamond that "dazzled with fire." Despite the financial challenges of experimenting with expensive diamonds, he pursued his vision to create the first square and rectangular shaped diamonds with exceptional life.

His idea was to give the emerald cut depth and fire by adding extra planes directly under and around the rectangular and square design. This was a particularly impressive achievement since he invented the Radiant Cut long before diamond cutting could be simulated on computers.

"Computers can learn the science of diamond cutting….but the art, I don't know," Mr. Grossbard commented during an interview last year with the "JCK", a widely read industry magazine. "It is the visualizing that truly matters," he once explained.

Given that clear reflections are essential to brilliance, it was imperative that he work with fine, high clarity, large rough diamonds. "I could not work on cheap goods. Imperfections interfere with reflections," he once recalled while discussing his work. "Any imperfection would distort. The stone had to be clean." In the course of his career, Mr. Grossbard cut five diamonds weighing over 100 carats, the largest was a 220 carat fancy yellow diamond.

After months of experimentation on actual diamonds, he succeeded beyond his dreams. His creative talent led to the very first Radiant Cut. This extraordinary design, known today as the Original Radiant Cut, reflects light in numerous patterns, infusing it with stunning brilliance and uncompromising quality.
