Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Does the GIA use the term "radiant cut" in their Diamond Grading Report?
A. No. The GIA uses the terms "cut corner rectangular modified brilliant" and "cut corner square modified brilliant" to refer to both true radiant cuts and to many other cuts that share the same outline, such as a princess cut with cut off corners. Our Original Radiant Cut Certificate guarantees that you are buying a true radiant cut diamond.

Q. Does the GIA issue a "cut grade" on radiant cut diamonds?
A. No. In January 2006, the GIA began assigning a cut grade for round brilliant diamonds. They do not, however, evaluate the cut quality of "fancy shape" diamonds such as radiant cuts. Only the Original Radiant Cut Diamond Certificate provides you full assurance with respect to cut quality.

Q. Should I choose an Original Radiant Cut which is more rectangular or one which is more square?
A. Only you can decide. The Original Radiant Cut is beautiful in any shape. Rectangular, square, or in between, all of our diamonds burst with brilliance and fire. Each Original Radiant Cut Diamond is unique. Choose the one that you like best.

Q. Does a diamond that weighs more necessarily look larger?
A. Cutters often "hide" weight in places that don't help the diamond look larger, in order to maximize the total selling price. The result is a diamond weighing 1.00 carat that appears no larger than a well cut diamond weighing 0.90 carat. Each Original Radiant Cut Diamond is guaranteed to appear as large as it should for its carat weight. We believe that if you are paying for a 1.00 carat diamond, it should look like a 1.00 carat diamond.

Q. How can I be sure that a diamond is an authentic Original Radiant Cut?
A. Every Original Radiant Cut Diamond weighing more than 0.70 carat is accompanied by the Original Radiant Cut Diamond Certificate, and is laser inscribed with our certificate number. If it doesn't have the Original Radiant Cut Diamond Certificate, it is not an Original Radiant Cut Diamond.
